A man is approaching 50. He has a wife. Three children. And a life. Which is going its way. Although the weather could easily be a bit better. Now that it's finally summer. And his head. Is acting strange. He sees things. Images he has already seen - they really exist - but what are they doing in his head? Omayra Sanchez's drowning death, Semira Adamu's suffocation, the drama at the Duisburg Love Parade, ... A doctor's visit offers the answer. A brain tumour. Pressing on his eyes. Making him a little blinder every day. But at the same time makes him see more and more. ADEM is a family story. About the last fight of a fifty-year-old. A fight against death. A story about life here on earth. That is propelled by voices and music into the Heights.

Synopsis
Lied is road movie and family drama in one.
A man is with his family somewhere in the South. But then something snaps. He gathers everything together and leaves. Through the night. The road through the landscape becomes a ride along his memories. Fragments. Flashes. Of how it was. Or of how he wished it was. When he gets home, he carries a child on his arm. Someone dies.
Just as Kris draws on his personal journey, Geert Waegeman traces a path through his own musical history for this performance. Text and music together thus form an extraordinary song.
(Lied was awarded the Taalunie Toneelschrijfprijs in 2006, in the same year Kris Cuppens was nominated for the Flemish Culture Prize for the Performing Arts with Lied ).
